Success is finally within photographer Maggie O’Connell’s reach. Maggie’s photos are selling like hotcakes, and with her increasing income she has bought a brand new town home, and a nice new zippy little SUV. Maggie’s life is finally on the right track, or is it? Lately she has been getting strange calls, and now cryptic notes are being left on the windshield of her car. This is getting out of hand and Maggie knows she needs help.

Former Ranger Trace Rawlins took over his late dad’s private investigations company. With the help of several retired elite military operatives now under his employ, Trace has a good reputation for getting the job done. When beautiful red heads are around Trace can’t help but be drawn into their seductive web and drama, and Maggie O’Connell is one stunning red head. Agreeing to take on her stalker case, Trace finds himself more and more Against the Storm of intrigue and passion with Maggie!

Fourth go round in The Raines of Wind Canyon series, best selling author Kat Martin debuts Against the Storm. The first three books were about the Raines brothers, this outing branches out with their friend Trace Rawlins. I loved the three previous chapters of the series, but this time out, I found the combination of cowboy Trace and sophisticated Maggie kind of lacking. The story line is choppy and the chemistry forced. The subplot romance between Maggie’s sister and Trace’s other client was more involving for me. The stalker is just a sideline for Trace and Maggie to hook up. Perhaps Kat Martin’s next venture in the series will pick up the slack this one left.
