When the newest Night Tracker novel arrived on my doorstep, I was apprehensive. The title alone was enough to make me pause. I am not a fan of the current zombie craze and have found books in the genre somewhat nauseating to read. With Zombies Sold Separately, I desperately hoped I could finish the book and be able to write a cohesive and positive review. My fears were groundless.
Half Drow elf princess Nyx and her fellow Night Trackers do battle zombies, but the less savory elements are kept to a manageable level by author Cheyenne McCray. The origin of the zombies and the greater implications behind their appearance is the key to this story. The familiar cast of Night Trackers is present, including Nyx’ love interest, Adam and her partner Olivia. Nyx will have a lot to deal with in this book as elements of her childhood are brought to the forefront in battling the evil sorcerer behind this new threat.
Action, danger, and suspense abound in the fourth book of the series. While I enjoyed the story, there were some rather predictable plot developments. I won’t enumerate on them here but I could see some things coming from “a mile away”. My interest now is on how these developments will affect the direction of the series, and what role new characters will play.
