Angela Baring stayed at her office late to finish typing up a college term paper. As she is leaving she realizes that she’s left some of her notes at her desk and must go back to get them. There she witnesses her boss’ murder, the killer spots her and Angela barely escapes with her life.
Detective Trent Stewart gets the case and with Angela’s help, figures out that the murderer is a hit man for the mob. Once he realizes how much trouble she is in, as well as how attracted to her he is, Trent steps out of the boundaries of his job to become Angela’s personal bodyguard and takes her to his cabin in remote country.
Just as they are realizing their attraction might be something more, something special, the hit man is captured and Angela finds out she must enter the Witness Protection Program. Their lives are separated for two years, until Angela’s life is threatened again and Trent must rush to save her.
Escape to Love is a great romance with the added thrill of suspense. Angela is a strong, intelligent woman who witnesses a murder and keeps her common sense during the event in order to survive. Trent is an honorable man and does his best to fight his ever-growing attraction to Angela because rule number one for a detective is to never make it personal. While the budding attraction and finally love between these two wonderful characters is the main focus in this story, the suspense was well written and kept this reader glued to the pages with baited breath.
While this was my first Alice Wootson novel, I can guarantee it will not be my last. I recommend Escape to Love to everyone and especially those who enjoy romantic suspense.
