Have you ever picked up a book and just glanced over the first page? Well that is exactly what I did with Love With A Scandalous Lord. I had received four books that day and did the same with all of them, but only this one kept my attention and I did not want to put it down.

Lydia Westland lives in Texas and had always wanted to go to England to marry someone with a title and live the glamour of the London Season. She had heard all about London from her step-father Grayson. Lydia wanted to be the perfect lady; she put together a book about all the blunders her cousins experienced in London. Lydia is feisty, beautiful and does not let anything stand in her way. Especially for what she believes is right and if someone does get in her way she will give them a good tongue lashing when necessary. Lydia hales from Texas and when someone messes with someone she loves, there is hell to pay.

Rhys Rhodes is Graysons' half-brother. Rhys sent for Grayson and his family when his father asked for him. Rhys is not happy about the turn of events that made him The Marquess of Blackhurst. He was never accepted by his family and he always wanted to lead a quiet life. But Rhys has done things in his past the he does not want brought to the surface. Upon his fatherís death, Rhys is now the Duke of Harrington and he does not want to be seen in society because of his past. But things have a way of creeping up on him that makes that impossible, so into society he goes.

Love With A Scandalous Lord is full of love, hurt, pain and betrayal. Of past hurts and deceptions that are brought to light and how a love for one can conquer all. Ms. Heath was able to weave a tale that had me spellbound from the very first word and kept me there until the end. I felt as if I was right there feeling the pain, love and sadness that Lydia and Rhys were feeling.

The secondary characters were wonderful, they let us know a little more about Rhys and his past. There are several characters I would love to see have their own story be told next. Yes, Love With a Scandalous Lord is the fifth book in a series, and I have not read the prior books, but I do have them in my TBR pile. Having not read the prior books, I did not feel I was missing anything at all.

If you are looking for a book that will draw you in from the moment you open it and until the ending then Love With a Scandalous Lord is for you. If you love historicals, deception, and a happily-ever-after, donít let this one pass you by.
