You Belong To Me is the latest title from Karen Rose, and just the title alone makes you wonder what will this one bring us. How dark will this story be, and who will she share this newest romance with? Will this book be another favorite and keeper, or will it be one of those books you can put aside and not really want to pick up to finish...
Dr. Lucy Trask is a Baltimore medical examiner, and there isnít much she hasnít seen Ė at least until she returns from her early morning run. She finds a body of a man whom she thinks might be a former teacher and friend of hers, posed as if he was sitting there playing his favorite game - chess. Soon, many bodies start to appear in different poses. All the victims are from her home town of Anderson Ferry. Does this mean it has to do with her? And, if so, what is next in store for Dr. Trask?
Homicide Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick will be the one person to help Dr. Trask figure out whatís going on, but she will have to trust him. He has seen a lot of things, but nothing like what heís seeing now. At times, heís beginning to think Dr. Trask is the killer, but his own partner feels different...she knows that she is innocent.
What one - or many secrets - is Lucy hiding from Fitzpatrick? Will she realize the one way to solve this is to actually work with him? It will mean a trip or two to the one place she never wanted to go again...home. Are her own parents a part of the cause of the murders? If so, how will this affect her and the solving of this strange case?
I have always enjoyed books by Karen Rose, but this one seemed to take forever to complete. There were many twists and turns and the mystery which, despite being so well written, the romance seemed to take a major back seat. Will I read more of Ms. Rose books? The answer is yes, but this one is certainly not my favorite.
