It is summer in 2059 and it is brutal. Not only is the weather hot and nasty, someone is killing women using the methods of the most infamous serial killers in history. It is up to Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the NYSPD to catch him.

Eve Dallas stands for the dead. As a homicide detective her job is to catch the killers and let justice do her thing. All this while dealing with her husband, the mega-rich Roarke, an aide, officer Delia Peabody, who is up for promotion, nightmares of her parents and the fact that her nemesis, Somerset will be home soon.

Author J. D. Robb has once again written a fast paced, tension filled mystery. I didnít figure out who the murderer was until almost the end of the book. We get to visit with Peabody and McNab and get a peak at how their relationship is progressing. Dr. Mira and her family shows up at a family picnic that Eve is not quite sure how to handle. And we get to see Roarke in an apron doing what all males do on a Saturday afternoon, barbecue.

For fans of J. D. Robb and Eve Dallas, you wonít be disappointed. If you have never read one, I would suggest starting with Naked in Death, only to see the gradual progression of the relationships and friendships that have developed.
