Elena Deveraux was born to hunt vampires. Death and love have changed her life. Now, reborn an angel, consort to the immensely powerful Archangel Raphael, she returns home to a New York busily rebuilding itself to find a new evil rising. A vampire attack at a girls’ school puts Elena in contact with the sisters she’s never known. Then bloodlust overwhelms vampire after vampire and Raphael exhibits signs of an uncontrollable rage. There isn’t a being on the planet who has not been affected by this phenomenon. From human to vampire to Archangel, no one is immune.
When sudden violence sweeps across the world turning the sky night dark with clouds as the ground shakes and splits, the signs clearly point to something that hasn’t happened in millennia: an Ancient awakens, an archangel of limitless power. One of the oldest most powerful Archangels, Caliane, Raphael’s mother, is stirring. She's coming for her son and no one will stand in her way. Not even Elena.
Nalini Singh impressive talent shines in Archangel's Consort. I couldn't put this one down. The action flies by pulling you along in its wake. For all their power, Elena and Raphael both face the painful task of handling emotional relationships with their parents. Talk about the mother-in-law from hell! For those unfamiliar with this series I don’t recommend starting with this book. Although short explanations are scattered throughout the book the relationships and emotions are all the more earnest from first hand experience.
