To complete her training to join Alien Investigation and Removal or AIR, Ava Sans is sent out along with fellow trainee and best friend Noelle to capture McKell, a vampire. Unfortunately for Ava and Noelle, things don’t go as smoothly as planned. Ava is infuriated by her failure and itching to show McKell how formidable she can be and won’t let a small thing like attraction to the vampire stand in her way. McKell is enraged by AIR's audacity in sending trainees after him, but that doesn’t stop him from being reluctantly aroused by the delectable, though human, Ava. McKell might even entertain meeting some of Ava’s demands if it means getting his hands on her mouth watering body. Soon Ava and McKell will have to decide if the attraction and unbidden emotions they are feeling for one another will be enough to put aside their ideas of the life they each wanted or risk it all by giving their love a chance.

Ecstasy in Darkness is a wonderful battle of wills and reluctant mutual desire. Ava and McKell are two strong people who must put aside their preconceived ideas if they are to have any chance at finding happiness. Ava’s sometimes vicious attitude is amusing to witness, especially when compared to her floundering in the new emotional territory she finds herself in with McKell. McKell’s sense of entitlement and superiority will have readers out right grinning and battling laughter when he’s annoyed and perplexed by Ava’s lack of proper subservience.

Gena Showalter is an unbelievably talented author with the fantastic capacity to create characters who are strong, yet tempered by the emotions they feel for those they love that makes them beloved by readers. Ecstasy in Darkness is yet another incredible story in the Alien Huntress series that will delight fans of this great series and whet the appetite of those new to Gena Showalter’s work.
