Grace has recently learned that the accident might have been more than an innocent circumstance. It might have been a hit on her father and husband. Grace becomes determined to uncover the truth and someone in the shadows is equally determined to stop her at all costs, even if that means her death.

Jud Tyree is soon hired as Grace’s bodyguard. He has many secrets in his past as well. Jake left Louisiana more than ten years ago determined to never return. Jake has a connection to Grace’s past he can never reveal.

Soon the sweltering Louisiana heat is as hot as Jake and Grace’s growing feelings for each other. Can they deny the growing passion they feel? Will it interfere with Jake’s ultimate goal of keeping Grace safe? These and many other questions will keep the reader turning pages well into the night searching for the answers.

As always Beverly Barton has penned an emotional love story filled with great suspense. Followers of The Protectors series will welcome this new chapter in this highly successful series. Those new to the series will find enjoyment as well as this is very much a stand alone book although readers may be tempted to glom the previous titles in this series to capture more of this fine writer’s talent for story telling.
