When Carine Winters accepted the job of photographing Sterling Rancourt`s historic home, she knew there was the off-chance of running into Tyler North. Tyler was the pararescueman who saved Jodie and Sterling from death on the mountains of Cold Ridge - he also happens to be the man who left Carine standing at the altar a year ago.
Returning from lunch, Carine discovers the body of Louis Sanborn, the Rancourt`s assistant to the chief of security. Carine and Manny Carrera (one of Tyler`s best friends) are caught up a deadly game of lies and deception, a game where you donít know who to trust.
Cold Ridge is filled with twists and turns throughout the plot and readers will be gripped from the opening pages. Ms.Neggers blends together the perfect counterbalance of romance and suspense with a little hint of humor. I really enjoyed Carine as a character; she was very strong willed and never backed down from a challenge. It made her a wonderful heroine. Tyler was witty and handsome and I liked the way that he used humor to diffuse a potentially stressful situation. This is a great summer read and if you enjoy this tale there is a prequel of sorts Shelter Island which is contained in the anthology On The Edge. It is the story of Antonia Winters (Carine`s sister)and Hank Callahan (Tyler`s other best friend).
