Lady Elena Ravenscliff life is has not been easy at all. First, her incompetent husband is a horrible gambler, causing them to sell all that they own and flee England to live abroad. Now this idiot has gambled and is using her as collateral and wonders never cease, he lost, again. She has been sold to the slave market to pay his debt. Lucky her she does not have to be a complete slave, she gets to be part of a harem. Elena decides to embrace the life that destiny has dealt to her, and embody “Jinan”, paradise, the beautiful harem girl given to playing dark games with her patrons. How long can she continue to pretend she is a whore, but a gently bred English woman?

Griffin Summerfield, Marquess of Rothburn, remembers the love he shared with Elena, but then he recognizes her among the other harem girls, and decides he has to have her for himself. After his contract is complete, can he let her go, or risk his life to possess her for a lifetime?

The Surrender of a Lady begins exciting, riveting, and awe-inspiring, however it start fizzling out. The conflict between Elena and Griffin in some ways becomes redundant. I wish this story could have been more consistent.
