Knowing You, the second book in a 2-for-1 set by Maureen Child, explores the relationships between family members, not only by blood ties. This sense of family is often missing from modern life, and those who feel the loss search for something that will fill the void.

Stephanie “Stevie” Ryan has been Carla Candellano’s best friend for years. As a surrogate member of the family, Stevie thought that she had found a place where she could belong. Her dream came true as she fell in love with Carla’s brother Nick, the pro football star. This dream was shattered by Nick’s unfaithfulness. Stevie thought she was back on the outside, looking in at the family she wished was hers. She put her efforts into a successful business, the local coffee shop, and into forgetting all about her first love.

Paul Candellano always seemed to be overshadowed by his more flamboyant, popular twin, Nick. The family accepted that his quiet demeanor hid a powerful intellect, but they really had no idea how successful he really was. Or how much he loved Stevie. He could not understand why Nick had broken her heart and thrown away the woman Paul wanted so much.

Knowing You takes us even deeper into the Candellano family dynamic. Stevie wants so badly to belong to a family, that she is scared to risk alienating Mama Candellano by dating Paul. The interaction between the brothers is really interesting, and very realistic. Readers will enjoy the sizzling passion that Paul hides behind his cool composed demeanor. The pages are steaming in a few places!
