Emmaline Marlow is about to sacrifice for her family, again. She is going to marry old man Hepburn to save her family from the debtorís workhouse. He is old, how long can he live anyway? Then when Emma is about to fearfullly say I do, something unexpected happens. Hepburnís sworn enemy, Jamie Sinclair bursts into the church and boldly decrees he would abduct Emma until Laird Hepburn pays the ransom. Well hellís bells, what is this all about? Emma has found herself engulfed in a feud that is several centuries old. At least the guy that is kidnapping her is super hot.

Jamie thinks he is going to kidnap a weak little English flower, but instead finds he is saddled with a fiery English woman, who knows her way around arrows and knives. He had heard rumors that she was no great beauty, but her strength and determination draws him to her like a moth to a flame. Jamie is not interested in how she could ignite his body as well as his heart, he just wants to settle the Sinclair-Hepburn score. The longer they are together, the harder it gets for them to keep theirs hands off of each other. Who knew stealing a bride could be passionate business?

The Devil Wears Plaid is a adventurous read that will leave you breathless at every turn. The characters are not at all what you expect. They are strong, fearless, and determined to meet their course. This is a story of love, passion, betrayal, and the meaning of true loyalty even when the recipient does not deserve it. I know summer is over, but this is a book I would take to the beach.
