On the night of her coming out, Lady Isabella Scranton’s life changed forever. It was the night she eloped with Lord “Mac” Mackenzie. It was her first time meeting the scandalous Lord. As an artist Mac worked hard, but he played harder. His drinking took its toll on their marriage and when his wife needed him most he was not there for her. Finally, Isabella could take no more. She left him.

Isabella’s letter of farewell brought Mac crashing head first into reality. His careless ways cost him the most important thing in his life: Isabella. Mac abandoned drinking and set about winning his wife back. It wasn’t going to be easy for Isabella’s mind was made up. It seems Mac will have to try harder, he may even have to become a gentleman.

Isabella does not hate Mac. She is pragmatic in her dealings with him. Until Isabella notices someone has taken to using Mac’s identity. The imposter has spent time learning Mac’s style, both in painting and in life. Isabella remains passionate about Mac’s art and cannot bear to let someone do this to him. But, of course, Mac, being Mac, doesn’t care in the least what the other man is doing. If it means spending more time with Isabella, however, Mac will see what he can do.

Things take a more sinister turn when lives are put in danger. Specifically, Isabella’s. There is nothing Mac won’t do to protect the woman he loves.

Lady Isabella’s Scandalous Marriage is the anticipated second novel in Jennifer Ashley’s Highland Pleasures series. We were introduced to Mac and his situation with Isabella in the first book The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie. This book, however, may be read alone without the reader being lost. But the reader is really missing out by not reading this series from the beginning. Ms. Ashley catches fans up with Ian and Beth in this story. It was thrilling to get to ‘visit’ with the couple again.

Isabella is a heroine strong enough to make tough choices even with a broken heart. Mac is a hero willing to admit his mistakes, who determines to become worthy of his heroine’s love once more. While he is at it, he may melt some reader’s hearts as well.
