Welcome to Harmony is the first book in a new series by beloved author Jodie Thomas. In this first installment, readers are given a feel for the small town and the welcoming that they give to one and all.
However, once the dry season hits and fires become an issue, the town of Harmony is smart enough to realize that they canít fight a big fire by themselves, and help might be necessary. While small town pride and can do attitude is an important part of the story, it doesnít prevent them from asking for and accepting help when offered to protect the town.
However, individual residents themselves might not like asking for help when they are in need. Take for instance Jeremiah Truman, an older resident who lives away from town, owns an orchard, and suddenly finds himself with niece Reagan living with him. Both Reagan and Jeremiah have some serious trust issues going on, and itís nice to see them manage to struggle those issues to build a relationship.
Thereís also Tyler Wright the undertaker, who I tend to think because of his job has a low self esteem. He gets involved in an online romance, but when fire threatens the town will it also threaten Tylerís romance?
Finally, I canít wait to read more about Alex McAllen the local sheriff, and Hank Matheson the volunteer fire chief who was once the best friend of Alexís deceased brother. Will their relationship heat up, or will the only heat come from the mysterious fires being set around Harmony, and who is setting them?
With Welcome to Harmony Ms. Thomas has brought to life a quaint Texas Town that seems to still be a little behind the times, but struggling with the idea of whether to welcome technology or keep the quaintness, and let life continue as it is. I personally canít wait for the next installment.
