Hot Finish is the newest and definitely hottest book so far in Erin McCarthy’s Fast Track series.

Suzanne and Ryder Jefferson have been divorced for two years. They have gone their separate ways but a close knit circle of friends keeps them in each other’s lives. They spar and snip but try to keep going on. Now Suzanne is planning the wedding of blonde airhead Nikki Borden and race car driver, Jonas Strickland. She is flat broke and needs any job she can take and she will definitely take this one. Too bad Ryder is participating in the wedding also. It does not seem like things could really get any worse for Suz, until she discovers that the divorce decree never went through.

Ryder and Suzanne are still married. He is ecstatic; she is terrified. Will these two finally have the chance to communicate their complex emotions to lead to a happy ending?

I have been anxiously awaiting this book for months and for the most part, I was not let down at all. The chemistry that we have seen simmering between Ryder and Suz in the past two stories has increased tenfold and it sizzles! But of course we all know chemistry cannot sustain a marriage and these two needed to just sit down and talk. I became a tad tired of their sparring and Suz’s inability to just tell Ryder how she feels. She wanted to be strong but instead came off rather cowardly at times.

Ryder on the other hand wanted to express his feelings for Suzanne time and time again but he was afraid how she would react. I wanted this couple to be together badly but I also really needed them both to get their act together.

That being said, Ryder is romantic and sexy as hell. He is adorably sweet on Suz and it shows on just about every page. Suzanne, for all her temerity, has several scenes of vulnerability and heartache that gave her character new layers. Add in the excitement of wedding planning and scenes with favorite past characters, and on the whole this book was enjoyable. The author did rather clumsily insert a plot to move the books on to the next set of characters to extend the series and it felt somewhat off in the story but maybe more insight will come in the next book.

Hot Finish builds momentum and takes off at a rip-roaring pace as Suzanne and Ryder finally start to reconcile their feelings for each other. Erin McCarthy definitely splurges on the sensuality and eroticism also. Funny, sexy as hell, and just a good ol’ fashioned love story between two people who truly love each other. You cannot go wrong with this story.
