Summer Secrets by author Barbara Freethy is a read that will satisfy the many different facets of a readerís personality. It will satisfy the adventurous, romantic and even devilish sides of your personality.

Newspaper reporter Tyler Jamison has reported on stories all over the world. He now finds himself on an island off the Washington State coast, Castleton. He claims to be there to do a follow-up story on the famous McKenna sisters, Ashley, Caroline, and Kate. Eight years earlier the girls along with their father, Duncan won the prestigious Winston Around the World Challenge. But is that why heís truly in Castleton?

Each member of the McKenna family was altered by their racing years. The eight years since have not been easy on them and they are concerned about having their lives exposed to the many prying eyes of not only the unknown public, but to those people they consider to be their closest friends.

Itís the week leading into the Castleton Invitational and storms are brewing. Are they storms only over the sea or are they emotional and personal in nature as well?

Ms. Freethy did an excellent job of keeping the story moving. The details of sailing and storms were written in such a way that I, as a non-sailing, non-storm watcher could easily grasp.

The build to the climax was a page turner, as was the follow up to the climax. In my opinion this book isnít a true romance as there are very few sex scenes, but more womenís fiction. Summer Secrets is my first read by Barbara Freethyóit will not be my last.
