For the last seven years, Moira O'Donnell has hunted her mother. A powerful witch, Fiona thought Moira would be a willing sacrifice for her black magic and killed the man Moira loved. After escaping, she found refuge with the Order of St. Michael's, and their head priest, Father Philip. It was there that she learned to control her magic, defend her spirit and heal. The dark visions that have plagued her since her escape are becoming more frequent and she knows her mother is up to evil. It is time to stop her once and for all.

Her search ends in Santa Louisa, California. The picturesque town hides an evil secret. When a nearby abbey of monks is massacred, it seems to be a clear sign that powerful forces are gathering. Fiona has opened a gateway to the underworld.

The lone survivor of the massacre, Rafe Cooper has lain comatose in the hospital. When he suddenly awakens he is compelled to go to the cypress grove and stop Fiona's ritual. Moira will need his help to battle the demons that have been loosed upon humanity. Another member of the Order, Anthony, has come to Santa Louisa to investigate the mission massacre. Moira hopes he can put aside his anger with her and help them.

Original Sin is the first book in a series by Allison Brennan. Based on the seven deadly sins, it promises to take readers on a thrilling trip. Ms. Brennan's past experience in writing romantic suspense has honed her skills and this exciting debut bodes well for the series.
