Ok, now what do you do when the man who broke your heart, because of a stupid bet, suddenly chases you down in a cherry orchard and kisses you soundly on the mouth, not only taking you by surprise, but taking your very breath away? Well, Harriet Goodwyne thought of something…Something that would teach Lord Connought a lesson he will never forget. Harriet is going to make Connought fall in love with her and then she will drop him like yesterdays trash. That should bring him down a peg or two!

Now Connought, on the other hand, is working on a wager of his own. How can he make Harriet trust in him again and what would he do with that trust, when he finally has it. His friends want him to make Harriet fall in love with him again and then walk away from her. But, what if he can’t? What if he finally makes her understand, that his kissing another woman all those years ago, meant nothing to him? It was just part of a stupid wager, that he has regretted accepting every day of his life.

Even though the story started out kind of scattered, it all came together rather well. It was a little confusing at first, to get all the characters in perspective, but after the first couple of chapters, it all made sense. Valerie King writes a fun and fast paced story. The characters, after you figure out who is who, are like a bunch of your friends, goading each other on. I enjoyed this story very much. Ms. King has a new fan in me!
