Jo Beverley does is again, in her next installment in the beloved Malloren series.
Portia St. Claire’s brother has gambled away their fortune and home. Now it is up to her to restore things to rights. Little did she know, that the price of getting everything back, would be her virtue, to be auctioned off in London’s most notorious brothel.
In comes Bryght Malloren. Bryght had once had to steal into a house to retrieve a letter, where he was greeted at pistol point by a very angry woman…a woman he could swear was now standing before him, to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, in order to settle her brother’s debts. There is no way he is going to let anyone have her fire, let alone her virtue, than him.
This sets the scene for what is to follow. A fun, loving and adventurous story of love found in the most unsuspected of places. Bryght and Portia are fantastic together. They fight, they love and they drive each other crazy. But the love…oh…it just curls your toes. Ms. Beverley is one of the most gifted writers of our time. Her stories take you to Regency England in a way that most other authors just can’t. In no time, you will be lost in her books and never want to return.
This book is a reissue of it’s original from 1996. The only change to the book is the cover. If you’re fortunate enough to have the original, you’re very lucky. If not, then by all means pick up this wonderful book. Be sure to watch for the rest of the Malloren books, which will be re-released in the months to come.
