Clay is a military soldier home from his army tour to see if his wife has divorced him. His wife, Amy, sent him a “Dear Clay” letter telling him his marriage was over. He was angry and hurt by the circumstances, but this was his own fault for enlisting in the army without consulting her at all. Then, he enlisted a second time after she pleaded and begged for him not to. Now whose fault is this?
Amy is determined to win her husband back. She knows she royally screwed up when she sent him that divorce letter. However, a near death experience shakes her out of her feelings of loneliness and despondency. She is hell-bent on getting Clay. Can he forgive her for the letter and the secrets she have kept from him for year.
Clay and Amy obviously still love each, however, will love conquer the hurt and the pain of the past.
Decisive Engagement is a pretty good read. The story line reveals itself in bits and pieces therefore the audience has to figure out what happened with the characters to get them to this point. It is difficult to gauge the personality of Clay and Amy with this story. I realize this was a short story, but I would have liked a little more meat to chew on.
