Jane Morgan seems like a stereotypical secretary: straight-laced, bossy, uptight, and efficient. Only she knows the truth: that her role as office manager is a façade. Jane has a past a mile long and she will do whatever it takes to hide it, even say no to a date with sexy explosions expert, William Chase. He is persistent though and makes his desires known. But in a moment of extreme temptation, Jane calls up Chase and they have a night to remember except, Jane bails, leaving Chase steaming mad.
Chase is the least of her worries however. When Jane finds out her brother is a suspect in a murder case, she will do whatever it takes to clear his name. Jane has to call in any help she can and that means Chase. The more they work together, the more Chase wants to be with Jane, but she is resisting. She knows to give in to big, bad tattooed Chase means to give up on her dreams of a normal life with a picket fence and a suit and jacket husband. Chase does not understand why Jane wants that image so badly but he’s going to do whatever it takes to prove to her that, tattoos and all, he is the man for her.
Lead Me On is sizzling sexy reading! Jane is a smart and interesting lead character. She has a past she is desperate to put behind her but yet, she cannot seem to cut all connections with it either. She fights her desires big time. I liked Jane because she is not perfect. She makes some mistakes in this book, but she apologizes and tries to rectify the situation. The mistakes are not dumb; they just come with trying to run from the past. Jane has a good head on her shoulders and she puts it to use.
Chase is not only sexy but he is a total sweetheart. He wants to court Jane and show her how good they are together, but she keeps resisting. So instead, Chase just becomes someone she can lean on in the hope that will prove that he is more than worthy of her dreams and goals. But Chase does not bow down to Jane’s demands. He shows her what they could have and then takes a stand. It makes for an intense courtship.
Lead Me On is the very definition of a page-turner. Victoria Dahl lets her inner sex goddess shine through on the pages and it makes for a phenomenal romance.
