As fall leads winter, and you’re ready to curl up in front of the fire with a cuddly blanket, a warm drink and a good read, I’d suggest the final installment of Carly Phillips’ trilogy The Corwin Curse, Lucky Break.
Lucky Break features the last single Corwin cousin, Jason. Jason has returned home somewhat in shame. He’s tested positive for drug use, and his Olympic dreams are dashed. It’s time to reassess and figure out what he’s going to do with his life, so he does what he knows best, and begins a small contracting business.
Lauren Perkins has also returned to Stewart, but she is on the verge of being a big success, as her first clothing line is getting ready to premiere in Paris during Fashion Week. She in only in Stewart to try to get her deceased Grandmother’s house ready to sell, and to visit her sister who is in a mental health facility as she’s unfit to stand trial for her crimes.
Jason and Lauren meet at a street fair, and it’s not long before they reignite the fire that was between them as teenagers in feuding dysfunctional families. While some people want Jason and Lauren to find their happy ever after at long last, not everyone is thrilled with the idea, and trouble is afoot in more ways than one.
After centuries of dealing with a curse could there finally be a resolution for the Corwin men? Is Lauren the key to ending the curse, or will she be the means to continuing it for generations to come? To find the answers you’ll need to read Lucky Break for yourselves.
While Lucky Break is a book that wraps up the Corwin Curse trilogy nicely, and you do get to know about the family in the epilogue my favorite of the series continues to be Lucky Streak.
