Finally, PI Mac Reilly and his fiancÚ, Sunny Alvarez are going on vacation! They are both looking forward to spending time at Chez La Violette, a villa they have rented in St. Tropez. They need some time together, alone, without any interruptions.
When they learned they were scammed along with others, they decide to get to the bottom of it. They are soon involved in protecting Belinda Lord, from her Russian mobster husband, and also in the middle of finding out who has stolen some valuable paintings in St. Tropez. There is also a haunting which needs to be proven as a fake before someone gets injured or worse, killed.
Sunny is also deep into finding out all she can about the woman who at one time owned the villa, no one can remember that much about her, only she was some sort of legend in her time.
There was so much going on; it was hard to decide what to focus on while reading the book. The characters were an interesting cast, they were called "The Misfits" they were all trying to find out where they belonged which is not easy to do even in the real world. It was an interesting read, but maybe it should have been edited down some to make it more of a pleasure to read.
