This is a wonderful story! Ms. Thayne can create characters that are so real, and bring out the emotions of each to perfection. With THE QUIET STORM she has created a heroine that readers will immediately love, and then cheer for.

Elizabeth Quinn is a beautiful heiress with a secret. Labeled the “Ice Queen” by those who see her aloofness as a standoffish and look-down-her-nose attitude to everyone, Elizabeth suffers in silence. A serious birth complication left her without the take-for-granted ability to communicate coherently. Her intelligence is hidden beneath her belief that she’s stupid. Because of this, she’s never been able to sustain a relationship with a man and has resigned herself to being lonely for the rest of her life.

Handsome, police detective Beau Riley has already had an encounter with Elizabeth in the past and the experience left him believing the rumors that she was an “Ice Queen”. When she comes to him for a special favor, he’s more than reluctant in agreeing to help her. But, there’s chemistry between them --- he’s sure of it. And he’s suddenly ready to test the waters again --- and break through Elizabeth’s protective shield.

Elizabeth wants Beau to re-open the closed suicide case of her friend. She’s sure it wasn’t suicide but murder, and now she’s raising the friend’s son (Alex) and wants to make sure he’s protected.

The investigation leads to uncovered secrets, danger, and startling revelations. Beau and Elizabeth’s passion grows with each passing day and they both have reasons in not wanting the relationship to go any further. Elizabeth is afraid Beau will immediately reject her once he finds out her secret. But Beau is more determined than she realized, and there’s no fighting the attraction between them --- no matter what.

Kudos to Ms. Thayne for another wonderfully emotional, sensuous, fast paced read! Beau is a hero to “sigh” for, and readers will love Elizabeth’s strength. Don’t miss this one!
