Dark Lover is the third book in the Rose trilogy, however it is not the last title in the Masters of Time series.
Samantha Rose is the last of her siblings living in modern times. She misses them terribly but doesn’t let it distract her from her job as a Slayer. Since witnessing her mother’s death when she was twelve years old, Sam has worked hard to rid the world of evil. Working for a secret government agency, she’s now been assigned to keep Ian Maclean from selling a stolen page from the Book of Power.
Ian’s past is a nightmare beyond comprehension, and now he lives a very solitary life. He uses women in the desire to lose himself in passion, but never forms attachments with anyone. Since the moment he sets eyes on Sam, he’s attracted to her strength and fearlessness, not to mention her sexy body.
Somehow these two strong and solitary individuals will have to find a way to work together because evil is not done with them yet. Sam sees things in black and white while Ian sees things more in shades of gray as a result of his past. Their wills clash on a constant basis and the only thing they can agree on is that sex between them would be explosive.
The first half of this book takes longer than necessary to repeatedly showcase their differences and to expound on their sexual desires. The action finally picks up in the second half and is redeemed by the appearance of Sam’s sisters and their mates. Ian is truly a tortured hero who readers will easily sympathize with. Sam takes a little getting used to as she’s such a strong, alpha female, but when her emotions soften her a bit she’s much more likeable.
