Still trying to come to terms with being a vampire, Menolly D’Artigo becomes fascinated with a fae diary she finds while cleaning out some rooms in her bar. The diary leads Menolly to believe the elf was being stalked. Fortunately, as part of the Otherworld Intelligence Agency, she has resources she can call on to help her in her quest to solve the elf’s disappearance.

But that’s not all Menolly and her sisters have to contend with, add in a stray ghoul and a few demonic necromancers hell bent on releasing a demon that is going to Delilah’s soul, and the D’Artigo’s have one hell of a fight on their hands.

Demon Mistress is the first book I have read by Yasmine Galenorn and it won’t be the last. Although this is the sixth book in the series, I didn’t feel lost or that I should have read the other books – always a good sign.

The plot centres about Menolly, the vampire sister of the D’Artigo brood. Menolly is a kick-ass heroine, she’s fearless and suffers no nonsense. What I found particularly fascinating is seeing a strong female heroine without the need for an Alpha male to dominant her; in the beginning we see her lover as a female shapeshifter.

The storyline is packed full of action and intrigue. I loved the fight scenes. There are in fact two plots – one surrounding missing Otherworld people and the other about a group of amateur necromancers. Although there appears to be a lot going on in the book, every plot thread is easy to follow. Ms. Galenorn also introduces a host of characters. This variety makes for a delightful read.

Sensual, erotic and enough kick-ass intrigue to keep even the shrewdest reader happy, Demon Mistress is a must for all paranormal fantasy lovers!
