The Wicked Ways of a True Hero is a story about an overgrown oaf of man with a heart of gold and gentle spirit, Daniel Stamfield. He has been busy wrenching, gambling, and drinking, living his life to the fullest. Now, his mother and sister are in town and all the low life living has to stop because he has to escort them to all of the major happenings of the London season. His mom has a surprise for him, she has invited her goddaughter with the slightly spotted past, Miss Corisande Abbott, to accompany them to all of the events of the ton.
Corie cannot stand to be around Daniel. It is his fault she is not married, and free from the clutches of her thieving, abusive father. She is on the hunt for a husband, so she can have her own life. And this time he is not going to stop her.
When you first start this story, you think”Oh great, another mushy love story”. But I was pleasantly surprised at the rich drama and sparkling humor that actually made me laugh out loud. The Wicked Ways of a True Hero has the basic Regency period plot, but delves into the depth of the darker side of the London society. This story is very funny and engaging. This is a read that fooled me into enjoying it.
