Shelby Brookes had one night with Luke Tulane. Her best friend’s brother. And while she enjoyed it, it shouldn’t have happened. And even more importantly, with Shelby’s medical problems, she couldn’t possibly be pregnant. But what other reason was there? Especially when the pregnancy test came back positive…
Luke Tulane is not thrilled to hear that his mother is so badly wanting grandkids that she is pushing marriage off on all her children. Alex and Ethan react by fleeing the country. But Luke… he is stuck. And then Luke gets the news that Shelby is pregnant. He was raised to do the right thing. And that includes a bent-knee, a proposal, and a ring.
Unfortunately, Shelby is convinced that marrying Luke would be a major mistake. She’ll hurt him, and she couldn’t bear to hurt her best friend’s sensitive brother. Still, what else is there to do when Luke has his mind set on marrying her.
Her Best Friend's Wedding is the third book in The Tulane’s of Tennessee series by Kay Stockham. I haven’t read the previous two books in the collection, but a note at the beginning of the book assures me that they all stand alone, and unless I want to know the stories of the two brothers to marry first then I don’t need to read the previous books. I certainly didn’t have any problem understanding what was going on in this book.
The story starts out kind of gross with Shelby getting sick all over Luke, but he is a perfect gentleman about it, yet gullible, falling for the first excuse Shelby can think of to send him away. Luke is an adorable hero, sensitive, kind and caring, the stuff every woman dreams of. Shelby is also realistic, strong, courageous, and determined not to hurt her very best friend. Or her brother. And as a result, at times she seemed a bit callous.
