Darcy MacAlister knows she’s not like other beautiful women her age, nor does she know the truth about her past. Darcy MacAlister is a witch. Her witch heritage is revealed when a group of rogue witch slayers attack her after her adoptive mother’s funeral. But Darcy isn’t just any witch; she’s the key to breaking the curse that has plagued witches and the hunters that kill them. If a hunter kills an innocent witch, his soul is forfeit.

Axel Locke is the leader of the Wing Slayer Hunters, hunters who have sworn never to spill blood of an earth witch. Yet Axel constantly has to fight the bloodlust that rises within him, making his job as protector much harder. But when his sister is cursed by a demon witch, Axel must seek out Darcy to find a cure.

In a race against time, Darcy must harness her powers. To break the curse, Axel and Darcy must put the past behind them and believe in the magic to set them free.

When I read the back cover for Blood Magic, I expected another run of the mill paranormal romance. What I got was a sassy, exciting story with interesting characters. Blood Magic is a real gem, an absolute page turner! Ms. Lyon gripped me from the opening pages. Packing no punches, she drags you into a world of witches and sexy witch hunters, demons and dark curses, and the story doesn’t let up until the last page.

As a heroine, Darcy has just the right amount of sass and vulnerability to make her one of my favorite female heroines. But it’s her relationship with Axel – one filled with attraction and eventually love – that draws you in. I started to champion their relationship from the first chapter, hoping they could overcome their obstacles and learn to trust.

One of the best things about Blood Magic is the Wing Slayer Hunters. Gorgeous bad boys with hearts of gold. Yummy!

Well paced, well thought out and well written, Blood Magic is a refreshing addition to the paranormal romance genre. I cannot say enough good things about this novel – to find out you have to read it! Watch out for Jennifer Lyon, she’s an author that’s here to stay. I cannot wait for the next installment.
