When we last saw Keira Kelly, she had solved her cousin's murder, and developed a love interest with Adam Walker, the owner of a resort for vampires. As the story resumes in Blood Bargain, Keira begins to notice that Adam is not acting like a normal vampire. He barely takes any blood, and then only animal blood. She has offered, but he won't consider sampling her sidhe-shapeshifter blend. Her Change has also stalled. She had hoped to know what her powers would be, but so far, has had only a few flashes of ability.
When a group of teenagers turn up missing, Keira and her brother Tucker try to help. They want to make sure that there is nothing supernatural about their disappearance. They stumble upon some other unexplained absences that seem to lead them away from the vampire compound.
Will they find the kids safe and sound or will there be more bodies to explain? Whoever said life in West Texas was boring never visited Rio Seco.
Author Maria Lima keeps readers guessing with her Blood Lines series. You never seem to know what will happen next. Keira, her brother Tucker, and the resort staff create an interesting cast of characters. In Blood Matters, Keira learns quite a bit more about her heritage and her possible future. It will be intriguing to see where the series goes next.
