Detective Jack Parker has an unusual case on his hands. Someone is stalking women and leaving them erotic verses from Victorian literature at their homes. The stalker seems to get in and out almost as if by magic, leaving no clues. Jack needs help to understand what the messages mean before the stalker turns deadly.
Veronica Archerís bookstore has been broken into. Archerís Rare Books specializes in erotic literature from the Victorian era; just the thing the stalker is using to terrify his victims. After getting no answers on the progress of the investigation into the robbery, Ronnie decides to visit the precinct to try and find out whatís going on with her case.
Jack and Ronnie get off to a bad start when he mistakes her for the professor coming in to help him with the messages being left by the stalker and starts asking her questions concerning the verses left at the crime scene of the stalking cases. Ronnie just assumes that Jack is making fun of the fact that her store specializes in erotic literature and in not taking her burglary seriously.
After discovering his mistake and realizing that the real professor will be of no help on his case Jack goes to Ronnieís store to apologize and ask for her help with his case. Ronnie agrees to help and soon the chemistry felt between the two turns them into much more than just consultants on a case.
All the rules change when one of Ronnieís clients is found murdered. The case has taken a whole different turn and Jack fears that the stalker is someone who has ties close to Ronnie. He must fight to protect the woman he is falling in love with.
