Faith and Fidelity is Evan's story. Evan is a policeman and a widower with a young family. He was a man who had dearly loved his wife and who had a healthy sex life with her until she tragically died. He had no desire to fall for another woman.

Evan meets Matt and they became drinking buddies. The buddies became fast friends and then their relationship changes when they became seriously attracted to each other.

This is a character driven story. The strength of the characters is very strong and they are explored in depth so that the reader really feels a strong pull towards them. There is, of course, a plot to the story as well, but the main focus is on the relationship between Evan and Matt. They must decide on how to tell their friends they are having a relationship and if there could be a future for them.

The reader will get really caught up with Evan and Matt and the difficulties they face. It is no just about coming out as being gay, it is about people accepting that they can be a couple given they believed they were both straight men with never a doubt in their minds that they weren't.

I like the author's style of writing. The plot flows easily and the characters become very human. For Evan the relationship is harder as he has his children and former in laws to consider. How he handles it makes for a tension filled read.

The story is not a typical gay romance where the characters are fully aware of their sexuality. This story explores the possibility that two straight men could fall in love with each other.
