Bree Matthew doesnít know what to think when her eight-year-old son, Davy, says heís seen a Windigo bury a baby in the snow. He swears the Windigo looks exactly like his deceased father, Rob. Bree had hoped that Davy would have gotten past missing his real dad, especially since Kade was trying to adopt Davy.
When several babies in the area go missing, officials worry that a black market ring selling babies is in the area. A couple women in the small northern Michigan community are murdered, and when looking for a missing woman, Bree discovers not only the woman, dead, but also a baby hidden in the snow. The baby is still alive.
Bree takes the baby into her home, hoping that the relatives will never be found and the baby will be hers forever. But as Bree searches for the real parents she uncovers unsettling information that the baby is tied to what happened to her first husband. The shock waves could shatter her marriage to Kade.
Cry in the Night is the fourth book in the popular Rock Harbor series set in Michiganís Upper Peninsula. I loved this series the best of all the books Colleen Coble wrote, so I was excited that the series is being continued.
It was nice to revisit Bree and Kade and the residents in this small Lake Superior town on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The faith message is expertly woven in. The suspense wasnít really that great, I had figured out what was going on and who was behind it within a few chapters. Donít miss Cry in the Night. It is a book you will not want to miss, especially if youíve read the others in the series.
