Back in 2007 when I originally read Robyn Carrís Virgin River books I could only hope that someday she would continue this series that I had come to love. Iím pleased to tell you (in case you donít know) that 2009 brings not only one, but three new additions to the Virgin River books.
The first one available is Second Chance Pass, and is basically the story of Vanni, a young widow with a newborn child, and her late husbandís best friend Paul. Vanni and Paul had an attraction to one another when they first met, but it was Matt who managed to sweep Vanni off her feet and into marriage. His death in Iraq has Vanni and Paul leaning on each other, and hiding their developing feelings.
Vanni and Paul and their developing relationship while the primary focus of Second Chance Pass are not the only couple whose story is either beginning or continuing to develop. As I read about these other couples I find myself feeling as though Second Chance Pass wasnít so much a trip back to the Virgin River that Iíve come to know and love, but a foreshadowing of the Virgin River Iíve yet to see.
What this meant for me, was that unfortunately Second Chance Pass wasnít the page turner Iíve come to expect the Virgin River books to be, but really helped to whet my appetite for what the Virgin River books will yet be.
Iím quite sure that dedicated fans of Ms. Carrís will be rushing the bookstore to pick up Second Chance Pass, but if youíre new to her Iíd like to suggest you start at the beginning with Virgin River.
