Jeremy Flynn is a former police who now works with his two brothers as a private investigator. He sets out on a solo job after getting a frantic call for help from a friend whose wife has disappeared in a cemetery in Salem, Massachusetts. Many fear she may suffer the same fate of another young woman who is found dead in a cornfield dressed as a scarecrow. Besides the haunting history of the Salem Witch trials, the area has a legendary killer known as the Harvest Man. Has this killer come back from the past to prey on a new generation?
During his investigation Jeremy meets Rowenna Cavanaugh who is a wiccan with an uncanny ability to "see" things. Others say she may be psychic, but she just feels she has strong intuition. Rowenna is a strong, smart woman, but she becomes fearful she may be in jeopardy as Halloween draws near.
Deadly Harvest is the second in Heather Graham's new trilogy. It stands well on its own, but to get the full spooky flavor of this series you must read Deadly Night. Both are a perfect combination of delightful romance and page-turning suspense. Deadly Harvest is fast paced and the twists and turns will keep you on edge to the last page.
Jeremy is a fabulous alpha male hero, but he is haunted by some events of the past that changed his life's direction. Rowenna has friends, but has tried to avoid deeper intimate relationships. The chemistry with Jeremy is tough to resist.
This novel is another tantalizing tale in Heather Graham's growing body of work. I have had the privilege of reviewing several books and read many more on my own. I look forward to reading and reviewing the third book in the trilogy, Deadly Gift, which will be released in December 2008.
