Tamara Steele may have a few acquaintances in her life, but prefers a solitary existence. Now she finds herself responsible for a damaged little girl, never realizing how much love she has to give. She knows she’s probably not the best person to raise Rachel, but she’d kill anyone who tried to take the child away.

Val Janos has been given the task of capturing Tamara, even using little Rachel as bait if necessary. When he makes it clear to his boss he’s not interested in the job, his one weakness is revealed and used against him. But even with his friend’s life at stake, Janos has become intrigued with Tam and instead finds himself rescuing her. She doesn’t trust him, but it soon becomes apparent that she needs him if she and her daughter are going to survive.

A multitude of characters might be confusing at times, but eventually you’ll realize that there are a lot of very bad men who want Tamara and they are willing do to whatever it takes to get their hands on her. Val has his own set of enemies and piles up even more as he tries to protect both Val and his lifelong friend. But Val and Tam are both going to have to prove stronger than they ever expected if they want to survive.

Ultimate Weapon may be read as a stand alone book, but readers will get so much more out of it if they are familiar with the previous books in this series. The McCloud brothers and their wives are an important part of this story and being familiar with them will make certain scenes all the more enjoyable. Fans have been waiting for Tamara’s story for quite a while, and they will not be disappointed.
