What better way to treat yourself for having survived the back to school rush than to have a Calgon moment in the tub with a great book. For many that book might be 8 Sandpiper Way, the latest installment in the popular Cedar Cove miniseries by author Debbie Macomber.
8 Sandpiper Way takes readers inside the home of many of the residents of Cedar Cove, but concentrates on the Flemming family. Dave Flemming is a pastor in the church attended by many of our favorite townspeople. His wife Emily is a devoted pastor’s wife. However, she has suspicions that something is wrong within her marriage, and she fears for the survival of her marriage.
Yes, Dave is hiding a secret from Emily, but to discover his secret you’ll have to read 8 Sandpiper Way for yourself. I can and will tell you that he has more than one major concern. Along with the secret I can’t divulge he’s carrying the burden of being a suspect in the death and subsequent disappearance of heirloom jewelry from one of his congregants.
While the Flemming family is dealing with these issues, Grace Griffin is facing her own battle. She’s been diagnosed with breast cancer, and her family and friends are rallying around her. Teri Polgar is pregnant and upset about the weight she’s gaining, but there’s a reason for it…she’s expecting triplets!
As you see lots is happening in Cedar Cove, and Macomber does a wonderful job of bringing us up to date on favorite residents, and flawlessly introduces us to new characters. As is Macomber’s usual style the set up for the next book in the series, 92 Pacific Boulevard leaves readers satisfied with life for the moment in Cedar Cove, but anxious for next year and a return visit to a wonderful town.
