Nathan Drake is a Special Forces soldier and loves it but he’d rather be home since his Mom was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer. One day on assignment in South America, he gets a disturbing phone call from Jamie, his brother, and he immediately goes A.W.O.L. Two years later, he gets out of prison, a sentence he served for Jamie, only to learn that his brother has been murdered. Now everyone thinks that Nathan is dead and Jamie just got out of prison. Nathan is out for revenge and he has no qualms about taking on The Mob to get it!
Terri Mitchell, former D.E.A. turned B.A.D. agent, suffered a brutal attack that nearly killed her, and did kill her partner, and from which she may never fully recover. Now she wants revenge and hopefully being a B.A.D. agent will allow her to get what she deserves! However, there is someone who is watching out for her and while she hasn’t seen his face, yet, she’d recognize that voice anywhere but she has a job to do and no sweet-talking phantom is going to dissuade her!
Phantom In The Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love turned out much better than I expected. These two protagonists are actually working the same case but they are coming at it from two different sides – legally and not-so-legal. However, neither of them is aware of the magnitude of this case – it’s not just about murder and drugs. This is a conspiracy that could have national and international consequences. If I had any problem with this book, it was trying to keep track of the secondary characters but that was a minute problem compared to the engrossing plot and characters. I loved Terri – spunky, put-up-with-no-crap-from-anyone, brave – my favorite kind of heroine! And Nathan is just about every woman’s dream – protective, caring, determined, intense. Thanks to Ms. Kenyon and Ms. Love – I’d love to see more books in this setting!
