All was well in Andrea (Drea) Rousseau’s world, or as well as can be expected when, for the past two years, you live the life of the mistress to Rafael Salinas, a drug lord. Her world came crashing down around her the day that Rafael “gave” her to the assassin as a “bonus” – not just because Rafael treated her like a tramp but because the assassin made her feel things she had never felt. Afterward, she plotted her revenge on Rafael and tried to forget the assassin. Drea has always played the “dumb blonde” for Rafael and his cohorts so they’d never suspect that underneath all of that long, curly blond hair was a brain, to his regret! Her plot was successful except it put her on the run because she knew Rafael would send someone after her, once her plot was discovered…….and she was correct. Rafael sent the one man that Drea never wanted to see again – the man that made her care for him and then broke her heart!

Simon aka The Assassin asked for one time with Drea and then walked away, unknowing breaking her heart in the process. He did what he wanted – made her feel like someone really cared about her but he couldn’t hang around. Once Rafael approaches him about a contract on Drea, Simon stalls him and decides to see if he can track Drea down. With tragic consequences, he finds Drea.

Death Angel is classic Linda Howard and a fantastic romantic suspense with a touch of the paranormal. Two people who have closed their hearts to everyone and everything have a second chance with each other and we get to watch as they struggle with their feelings for each other and realize exactly what it is they are feeling. Rafael is a skuzzy sleaze, Drea comes across as a bit of a ditz but it’s all an act and Simon, a man of few words, lets his actions speak for him. If you don’t read Death Angel you are depriving yourself of one hell of a treat!
