It is not often that a romance novel makes me stay up reading into the wee hours of the night but Unlawful Contact is just such a book. Pamela Clare pulls you in and does not let you go until the very end!

Journalist Sophie Alton is frantic with worry for young single mother, Megan Rawlings, who is on the run with her baby. Megan was close to parole, close to making a fresh start for herself and her child, but the drugs found in Meganís belongings suggest that she has not kicked her bad habits yet. It all seems very fishy to Sophie and when she receives a mysterious phone call inviting her to prison to interview Marc Hunter, Meganís brother, Sophieís investigative instincts are off and running...straight into trouble.

Marc Hunter needs to find Megan and protect her from the monsters that are determined to put an end to her life. But to do that, he needs to escape prison, and for that, he needs Sophie. The interview Marc has set up quickly deteriorates into a hostage situation when Marc uses Sophie to escape prison. It is only then that Sophie realizes who Marc Hunter really is. Marc Hunter is ďHunt,Ē the boy Sophie gave her virginity to in high school, and who has always been a wonderful memory to her. Sophie cannot believe Hunt turned into a murderer, but the facts speak for themselves...or do they? As Sophie digs into Meganís past, she realizes that Marc Hunter may be many things, but a murderer is not one of them.

Tense situations, incredibly passionate love scenes, and a plot that is mysterious and well thought out make Unlawful Contact an addicting read. What truly makes this book so special though is the fiery and explosive chemistry between Sophie and Marc. These are two people who cannot keep their hands, eyes, or thoughts off each other. Despite the highly irregular situation they are in, their relationship grows quickly. Pamela Clare made this a fragile but oddly strong relationship, with threats coming from all sides, but at its center, a determined and blossoming love.

Unlawful Contact had me on tenterhooks throughout the entire story. I overheard a lot of hype surrounding this book prior to reading it, but I am overjoyed to be able to say the hype and praise do not do this story justice. Here is a thrilling romance that can be re-read over and over. Itís not every day readers will meet characters like Sophie and Marc, so do not pass up this story!
