DEA agent Necie (Denise) Bramhall has spent the last several years of her career obsessed with bringing down drug lord Frank Barnes. Necie has hated him all her life for deserting her and her mother. Only her team has no clue that Barnes is actually her father.

Maria Barnes has always hated Necie because she feels her father loved Necie far more than he loved her. When her father is found guilty of his crimes, she swears to Necie that she will take away everything she holds dear. And Maria is evil enough to back up her threats.

As the case comes to a close, her relationship with her husband takes a turn for the worse. He hates the hours she puts in with her team and the closeness she feels to the men she works with. As his drinking worsens, his treatment of Necie turns volatile. Necie is torn, trying to make a decision that will affect both her life and her six year old daughter, Abby.

Jason, aka Cougar, is one of Necie’s team members, and has been half in love with her for years. Now as he watches her marriage crumble apart, he wants to be there for her. And when Abby is kidnapped, Cougar is the one she turns to.

The pace is fast, though not frantic, and the ending definitely leaves this reader wanting more of these characters. From the first scene the reader is drawn into this story. The first person perspective gives you a front row seat to Necie’s fears, hopes and desires. Her teammates include a great cast of characters whom I hope eventually will get their own stories as well.
