Super-conservative Shane Tremont is doing what he has always wanted to do – he’s a Secret Service Agent on protective detail for the President of the United States’ daughter, Elysee – and it’s a job he loves! He even gets to be a hero and saves Elysee, at great bodily harm to himself. As he’s recovering at the President’s ranch, with Elysee in residence, he begins to see her in a different light and proposes marriage, thinking it will be so much different than his first marriage and he’ll finally be free of his first wife.

Free-spirited Tish Gallagher is a wedding videographer who is still trying to get her business off the ground and stay one step ahead of the bill collectors and having a hard time succeeding at either. She hits rock-bottom before receiving a phone call from the President’s daughter about filming Elysee’s wedding. Tish is very excited about the prospect, thinking that this is just the “shot in the arm” her business needs, until she discovers that the groom-to-be is no one other than her still very much-loved ex-husband Shane Tremont!

On top of this, there is political intrigue going on, having to do with assassins doing honor killings for foreign dignitaries and Tish inadvertently finding herself in the middle of it!

Once Smitten, Twice Shy by Lori Wilde is a fun read that gives anyone in a committed relationship something to seriously consider! Each of the characters is flawed, to some degree, which is so very refreshing to read, because I found myself pulling for them and at the same time, wanting to give them a tiny boot in the butt! I’d love to see supporting characters get their own book, somewhere along the line and I’ll certainly try and get the rest of this series!
