How often have you closed a book and wondered about the secondary characters and when their story might be totally revealed? This spring thanks to Barbara Freethy you wonít have to wonder about Jake Sanders and Catherine Hilliard...youíll get to read their story in Silent Fall, the sequel to Marchís Silent Run.
To say that Jake Sanders has a chip on his shoulder is a major understatement. His life growing up was anything but easy, and it has affected his view of love and life in a rather adverse way. Catherine grew up in foster care, never quite belonging, and her longing for a family of her own has followed her into adulthood, but the visions and nightmares she has prevent her from embracing life and reaching for the proverbial brass ring.
Catherine and Jake would not have met if his brother hadnít married one of her closest friends from foster care. Jake and Catherine couldnít be more different if they were trying, but soon they must learn to adjust to one another, and believe in one another in order to outwit a killer.
Silent Fall will take readers deep into the mind of Catherine and what she discovers about not only her past, but Jakeís as well, will surprise readers, and make them want to continue reading to discover what other secrets might also be forthcoming.
Ms. Freethy wrote a tale of cat and mouse that does an excellent job of leading readers right where she wants them to go...but is that leading readers down the correct path, or another twist in a story filled with unique twists and turns?
While I wasnít quite as entrenched in Silent Fall as I had been in Silent Run it was still an excellent read, and one that I would recommend.
