Taylor Hannah is an adventurer of the first order. Seeking out daring adrenaline rushes and excitement is in her blood. It’s not so easy however when the risks become personal. Discovering that Brek Stryker, the man she loved and left on their wedding day, has become engaged again is a blow to her daredevil’s soul. Impulsively, she makes the decision to return to Richmond and confront Brek.
Brek Stryker is thunderstruck when Taylor Hannah appears in the mascot costume at the Rogues’ stadium. She left him high and dry three years ago and Brek has never fully recovered from her desertion and lack of trust in their relationship. There is no way he is going to get involved with her again and risk losing his heart. But Taylor has something to prove to Brek and she is determined to mend their relationship. But does that mean she can mend his broken heart?
Kate Angell serves up another winning installment in her Richmond Rogues baseball series. The chemistry between Brek and Taylor is hot, hot, hot! Though he may deny it, Brek still has feelings for Taylor. The emotional baggage between these two is fierce but the characters do not shy away from working out those problems, even if it involves some kissing and arguing. Of course, Brek is engaged so the kissing is very much off limits for some of the story but the chemistry is still there. He is an honorable man and does not want to let down his new fiancée, but she has some problems too which I felt jarred the plot rather than added to the story. That quirk aside, Strike Zone bats way above average with romance, characterization, and good old fashioned lust. A sexy secondary romance adds even more spice to this story.
Strike Zone puts the pressure on love and definitely hits it out of the park.
