Sloane Burbank is a former FBI agent, who was injured on the job and is now using her skills as a private consultant. Imagine her surprise when she receives a phone call from her oldest friend’s mother, requesting Sloane’s assistance in locating Penny, who has been missing for almost a year. Sloane immediately takes the job, even if she does have to pull some strings to get some cooperation from the FBI agent of record, her ex Derek Parker. At the same time, Derek is less than thrilled to have to work with Sloane, especially since he has his own crime spree to solve in Chinatown! However, once they start working together, per orders, along with several other branches of law enforcement; they discover that Penny may not be the first, or the last, woman to disappear!! As they investigate, they discover more and more women missing and they eventually discover that the only link all of these women have is Sloane! It gets even more bizarre for them once they realize that the crime spree that Derek’s team is working on and the crimes that Sloane and Derek are investigating together may be connected in some way.

Andrea Kane gives us a look into a very Twisted mind. She builds the suspense to an almost unbearable, in a good way, level and gives us more than enough suspects to choose from and yet when the real bad guy is unveiled, I was shocked! Derek and Sloane are so perfect together, professionally and privately, that I was thrilled when they decided to get back together! If you’re looking for a fantastic book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is one you shouldn’t miss! I’m looking forward to the next Andrea Kane book!
