Barrett Browning is itching to sort through the Windswept Plantation family papers. Being an historian this is what she lives for. There is potential for Barrett to published these valuable papers and get that promotion at the university where she works. The last thing she wants to do is get involved with the owner of the papers, Davis Jamison.
Davis Jamison views his family papers as a nuisance more than a treasure trove of important papers. He will honor his grandfather last wish and allow Barrett to have at it. He suggests she stay at the house while she is cataloging. He has feelings for her, but is unwilling to get his heart broken again by any woman.
While Barrett is reading the old papers, she is transported back to the 1830ís on the plantation through journals of the first mistress. She learns life on the plantation was not as easy or as forgiving as she thought. Davisí cousin, Lloyd will stop at nothing to make sure the family secret stays secret, he believes if it gets out it could ruin the family name and honor.
A great mystery filled with family secrets, villains who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals with a slow burning love story as the background. Highly recommended.
