Kira Donovan feels the change coming, the Heat is almost upon her, and arrangements will have to be made. Luckily she is able to find two ranch hands that look like they will be able to handle the animals – and her needs as well.

Ender was not looking forward to this assignment until he saw Kira. The lovely animal activist not only has a way with four-legged creatures, but she certainly knows how to communicate on levels that he understands. She is no pushover, though, and he will have a difficult time convincing her to come back to the ACRO compound with him. She won’t willingly leave her animals behind. Her ability to communicate with other species is important and leaving her alone and untrained is dangerous.

Kira has no intention of being set up as a guinea pig for scientists. She suffered once because of her unusual abilities and needs, and now she would rather flee than be put in such a vulnerable position again.

Unleashing the Storm is the second book in Sydney Croft’s series about unusual people. The writing team’s style is seamless as they bring readers to the edge of passion and beyond. Kira’s needs could easily make her a victim or have a certain cold ruthlessness. Thankfully, she is neither, and it makes this story a pleasure to read. Ender, or Tom as he is known, has his own issues to deal with, but Kira is his primary concern. Readers are also given additional information about the mysterious ACRO leader, Devlin O’Malley, and some of the other extraordinary members of the Agency for Covert Rare Operatives.
