1135 - Lady Abrielle of Harrington was desired by every man in the kingdom, she was beautiful and smart and wealthy. Her stepfather is about to receive his title, due to his courage during the Crusades, when he is denied the title, everything changes. The only way to keep him out of debtor prison is for Abrielle to marry the only man who is willing to take on a now poor and disgraced woman, Desmond de Marle. His reputation is not the greatest with the women, he is cruel and uncaring, he wants Abrielle only for the physical pleasure she can give him.

Lady Abrielle has no choice but to go through this marriage. She gave her promise, she will honor this promise even though she yearns for the dashing Raven Seabern, a emissary for his king. They met during a royal banquet and she was instantly taken with him. Their love can never be realized, however.

Raven Seabern has met his one true love, he is the opposite of Desmond, he is caring, gentle and very pleasing to look at. He can not get her out of his head or heart. The secrets, lies and danger may be both of their undoing if they continue with their secret love affair, he is willing to take the risk.

Kathleen Woodiwiss passed away before finishing the manuscript for Everlasting. Her fans are used to a certain level of writing from the beloved Woodiwiss. This last book falls a little short of the mark. The characters are at times flat and dull. The characters not well thought out. However, devoted readers of Ms. Woodiwiss will enjoy this last offering.
