A vacation trip with friends to New Orleans seems just the ticket for Maggie Gallagher to help her get over a recent trauma. Her bridegroom dumped her at the altar. This did nothing for her self-esteem, but maybe a fling in "the Big Easy" will help her feel sexy and attractive again. When Maggie and friends venture into a French Quarter bar, she is immediately drawn to the singer in the band. There is something about him besides his unusual eyes and musical talent.
Ren Anthony, the singer in question, is also instantly attracted to Maggie. They both have musical backgrounds, but life has led them down paths different from what they expected to do with their original dreams. The flames of passion flare between the two, but they agree that this will be a fling and when Maggie goes home they will part company with no regrets. Maggie has a job elsewhere and Ren claims to want no long term commitment. He is afraid to tell Maggie about his secret curse that keeps him from forming any close relationships. In the "Big Easy" dreams can come true or be dashed. Are Maggie and Ren star-crossed lovers or destined to be soul-mates?
The author deftly weaves an intriguing paranormal tale with sizzling hot romance. Maggie is a strong young woman who has gotten the "dirty end of the stick", but her resilient nature keeps her from wallowing in despair. Ren is a tortured hero who is extremely appealing. The setting of New Orleans comes alive thanks to Ms. Love's vibrant descriptions. Paranormal romance has become a popular sub-genre and Ms. Love's talented writing is sure to keep it flourishing. I will look forward to future novels no matter what genre she uses.
